Avila ,
LCSW, AT has been a clinical social worker for over 15 years and a professional
art therapist since 2001. She completed the Mandala – Circles for Healing – Facilitation
Training in Feb. 2005 and the Mandala – Reflections of Radiant Truth
and Beauty workshop in Aug. 2003 with Dr. Cornell.
She is the executive
director and founder of The Art Station, a non-profit organization that
offers individual and group art therapy and community programs to children
and adults in Fort Worth, Texas. The Mental Health Association of Tarrant
County awarded her the
Innovation in Mental Health Award in
2004. Some of the Art Station programming includes the creating of Mandalas
for art enrichment programs in a local elementary school, a Lance Armstrong
grant for Teens surviving cancer and an on-going support group for adult
cancer survivors and their caregivers.
